Hawkes Tarot is run by Blake Hawkes in Calgary, Alberta. This page explains what I collect when you join, book a reading or become a member, why, and who helps me look after it. If anything here isn't clear, email me at blake@hawkestarot.com.
What I collect
- Your email address, when you join, along with a record of what you agreed to and when. Canadian anti-spam law asks me to keep that record.
- Your Patreon details, when you sign in with Patreon: your name, email, Patreon account number, and which membership you have and whether your payments are up to date. Patreon never shares your card details with me.
- Your bookings: which reading, when, your time zone, and anything you tell me you'd like to get from it.
- Payments for readings go through Stripe. I see the amount and whether it went through. I never see or store your card number.
- My reading notes. After a session I may keep short private notes, so I can pick up where we left off next time. Only I can see them.
- Emails you send me, if you write or reply.
- Basic technical information, like the pages you visit, kept for a short time by my web host to keep the site running and secure. Visitor numbers are counted without cookies and without following you across other sites.
Cookies
The site only uses cookies it needs to work: one keeps you signed in, one checks that a Patreon sign-in really came from you, and one links your Patreon account to the email you gave me when you joined. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
How I use it
- To send you the emails you asked for: readings, the odd note from the woods, and messages about your membership.
- To show you the right things in the Parlour for your membership.
- To book, take payment for, change and cancel your readings, and send you confirmations and reminders.
- To remember our past readings, if you come back.
I never sell your information, and I don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who helps me
A few trusted services do the heavy lifting. Each one only gets what it needs:
- Cloudflare: hosts this website, its database and its emails.
- Patreon: memberships and member payments.
- Cal.com and Google Calendar: my diary, booking confirmations and reminders.
- Stripe: payments for readings.
- HubSpot: my client book, where I keep your contact details and my reading notes.
- Google (Gmail): my inbox, for emails you send me.
Some of these companies store information outside Canada, mostly in the United States, where it may be accessed under local law.
Emails and unsubscribing
I only email you if you've agreed to it. Every email has an Unsubscribe link, and it works straight away. You'll still get the emails you need about a reading you've booked. Leaving Patreon doesn't unsubscribe you from my emails, and unsubscribing doesn't touch your Patreon membership.
How long I keep it
- Your email stays on my list until you unsubscribe. I keep a record of your consent and when you left, as the law asks.
- Booking and payment records are kept as long as Canadian tax rules require, currently six years.
- Reading notes are kept while you're a client, and deleted if you ask.
Your choices
You can ask to see what I hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, unless the law says I have to keep it. Just email blake@hawkestarot.com and I'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with how I've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Age
Hawkes Tarot is for adults. Please don't join or book if you're under 18.
Changes
If I change how I handle your information, I'll update this page and, for anything significant, let you know by email.
